A Letter Received from Dave and Sue, 4/2013

Greetings from Kenya

Dave and I would like to thank everyone on behalf of everyone here in Narok for your prayers during the past election. Everything went peacefully and life is continuing to get back to normal day by day.

Many exciting things are happening and we can see God’s hand in each place we go and the people He is bringing to us and us to them.

The first part of April our daughter, Kristen, and son-in-law, Patrick, came to visit Kenya for the first time. It was wonderful to spend time with them (although much too short) and show them around the Rift Valley. Both Kristen and Patrick were able to see why we love Kenya and its people so much. You will have to come see for yourselves.

The mobile clinics are doing well. We (Musa and I) were not able to go out for two weeks due to the elections but are back on schedule now. The attendance is growing weekly. More women are coming for prenatal care than in the past and they are coming for care earlier in their pregnancy than ever before.

Kristen and Patrick were able to go out with us one day to meet the communities and help out a bit.

In this year one of our goals is to expand the area of the mobile clinics. I have discussed areas with the District Hospital and Musa and I have begun to survey areas of expansion to help meet the needs of more people and share the Gospel as we expand.

The picture of the Rift Valley is taken from the farthest side from us and the mountains you see in the distance are Narok District and town where we live. The area in between is some of the area that we are serving and as you can see there is a lot of area that has to be covered and such a great need for these people who have no access to health care or the Gospel. This is why it is so important for us to get a four-wheel vehicle to travel to these areas.

David has been busy with water projects--both living water and rain water. He has been preaching and putting up rain gutters and catch systems to help prepare for the coming months of no rain. The picture is of a church in Oletukat which we have partnered with Nasha Ministry to do community development and build relationships to begin teaching in the area within the next few months.

I know we have asked for prayer for rain and God has answered your prayers. I have been told “be careful what you wish for.” The long rains have come and people have begun planting season. There has been flooding due to the rains and because of where Narok is located in a basin below the Maa Forest all of the run off comes to Narok and floods the town and the surrounding areas. Lives have been lost due to flash flooding and a lot of damage has been done to roads, property and businesses. Rivers have gone over their banks and areas in the bush are unreachable due to the flooding. PLEASE continue to pray for the rains and for the people.

The last news for now is we have a new addition to the Ministry and family. Homer (yes, that is his name) joined us one month ago and is still searching for his fit in the ministry and we are searching for our shoes.

We cannot thank you enough for your prayers, love, support and encouragement. We give thanks for all of you and the blessings you are to the people of Kenya and us.

You are in our hearts and prayers.

To His service,

Sue and Dave

Meet Dave and Sue
Dave and Sue are originally from upstate New York and have called Southwest Florida home since 2000 before deploying to Kenya in 2009.

Dave is a retired law enforcement officer from New York and has a background in management and warehousing.  Sue has a nursing background along with management and community health education.

Sue has been called to mission's for over 35 years.  After Dave and Sue took their first short term trip to Haiti Dave felt God tugging at his heart calling him to the mission field.  Since then they have returned to Haiti and the Dominican Republic on short term teams before deploying to Kenya fulltime.

It is clear that God has called both Dave and Sue to missions and that God's plan is for them to serve in Kenya, Africa.
